‘Me Time’ is essential when combating stress and seems one of the hardest things to accomplish!
Stress overload makes us feel like we don’t have the time to stop, breathe, and take care of ourselves. Our life throws us challenges – work (or lack thereof) both can be equally stressful for body and mind, concerns about health, kids, relationships, finances, fears and worry can build up and stress hits us from any angle. My goal is to share with you little tools and routines that can have a huge impact on how you are able to cope with the stress you are experiencing and shift your energies into a positive direction.
So my little tip for today, take some ‘Me Time’ in the evening, even if it is just 15 – 20 minutes! Taking time for self-care on daily basis can help you unwind and release some of the tension and stress that has built up during the day.
Here are a few ideas.
Foot Soak
Thought you can only relax from head to toes in a bath? Here is a great alternative! Grab a little tub your feet fit into. Fill with nice, warm water and blend in a tablespoon of Himalayan Sea Salts infused with Lavender and Tea Tree Essential Oil, or Lavender and Roman Chamomile Essential Oil, or Patchouli and Tea Tree essential oil. Soak your feet and let go of tension and stress. While sitting with your feet in soothing water inhaling the beautiful scents, focus on your breath, inhale and exhale deeply. You can even in addition, focus on the crown of your head and ‘walk’ down your body focusing on each body area, letting go of any tension you may feel in that area. Become conscious of your body, breathing and relax from head to toes.
For best results blend 10-12 drops of essential oils (see suggestions below) with one cup of Sea Salt (store in air tight container). Add 1 tablespoon of salts to foot soak where the water is running into the tub to disperse oils and salts. Soak feet for 15-20 minutes.
Relaxing Foot Soak Recipe:
8 drops Lavender and 2 drops Tea Tree (per 1 cup of Sea Salts – blend well)
Aromatherapy Bath
Aromatic baths are a wonderful natural remedy to support physical and emotional wellness. The salts alone already have many therapeutic benefits. Himalayan, Dead Sea, Mediterranean Sea and the Great Salt Lake in Utah are some of the most popular salts. The salts will change the osmotic balance of the bath water, allowing your skin to absorb more water. Magnesium sulphate present in salts has anti-inflammatory properties and helps the body to stay healthy by avoiding cellular breakdown. Phosphates will soften the skin and help exfoliate. Sea salts also stimulate circulation and help to relax tense muscles. Your bath salt soak can encourage deep relaxation and relief from stress. Formulate your bath salt soak to your body’s needs by adding essential oils.
For best results blend 10-12 drops of essential oils (see suggestions below) with one cup of Sea Salt (store in air tight container). Add ¼ cup of salts to bath water where the water is running into the tub to disperse oils and salts. Soak for 15-20 minutes.
